Thomas Yard, Kanyirri Locomotive Facility & Admin Centre

BSA completed the Locomotive Entry and Exit Control System for this facility, with a project cost of $200k. HVAC work was also completed as part of the major mine upgrade for this facility.

Fortescue Metal Group (FMG) undertook a project to increase iron ore export capacity to 155 million metric tonnes per annum.

BSA completed the system functions (Building Automation) to control and monitor the entry, provisioning and exit procedures for the locomotive facility. This includes monitoring and control for the following:

  • Track switch monitoring
  • Derailer control
  • Ventilation system monitoring and control
  • Swing gates monitoring and control
  • Internal and external ‘traffic’ light control
  • Fuel system nozzle monitoring
  • Warning lights and sirens control

This control system comprises a Tridium Niagara head end and Schneider PLCs for low level control logic.

BSA also undertook HVAC work for the $60 Million project for FMG, as well as designed and installed the first ever Personnel Depot Protection System currently used in WA for Fortescue Metals Group.

BSA HVAC Design & Construct:

  • Designed and installed a multiple lane Personnel Depot Protection System
  • Worked closely with FMG Managers to review and identify issues and goals
  • Installed two major compressed air systems with a total length of over 1000 metres
  • Worked closely with engineers to overcome a wide range of complex tasks
