Chadstone Shopping Centre Stages 30 & 33
Chadstone Shopping Centre is a super-regional shopping centre located in the inner south-eastern suburb of Malvern East, about 13 kilometres south-east of Melbourne.
The centre is the largest in Australia with approximately 530 stores and over 9,500 free car parking spaces – and is currently known as the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. The $260m project, constructed by Probuild, comprised of 2 stages.
Stage 30 comprised construction of a bulky goods retail area, basement and rooftop car parking, ground level retail and a 4 level office tower located above the existing suspended car park slab.
The award-winning West Mall (Stage 33) redevelopment at Chadstone Shopping Centre is the largest single stage of work ever undertaken at the centre (covering an area of 25,000sqm of retail and 1700sqm of commercial space), comprising a new lower ground and ground level retail mall and expanded retail trading space, an extension of the existing south-west multi-level car park, construction of an additional level of car parking to the existing east multi-level car park, upgrades to the existing services infrastructure serving the Shopping Centre and construction of a new lower level deliveries entry.
50 new stores, including Sportsgirl, Portmans, Esprit and Witchery were opened, with a golden strip of luxury retailers opened shortly thereafter. 12 international fashion houses now have stores at Chadstone, including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Miu Miu, Tiffany & Co., Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Omega, Burberry, Coach and Jimmy Choo. Completion of Stage 33 was achieved in November 2009.
